Im Wandel der Stoffe – Transitional Matters
Exhibition of the outcomes of the experimental workshop series on the design potential of physical processes.
The properties of ephemeral substances provide new aesthetic sensations at any given moment, which are not identically reproducible. Be it fog, wind, water or heat – a complex system of varying parameters makes it impossible for the viewer to anticipate the transitional moment, but allows them to perceive it as an impression of chance instead. The examination of the transition of different substances and the analysis of the firm, solid rulebook, which produces momentary and fluid conditions of form, colour and structure, has aimed at making use of the ever-changing Gestalt of the substances as a form of expression on a multi-sensory level.
The workshop took place at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf in the winter term 2018/2019, supervised by Thomas Wirtz. The results were part of an exhibition in cooperation with Lara Bechauf-Nguyen, Miriam Hausner and Anne-Cathrine Mosbach (neospektiv Düsseldorf) and Frédéric Wiegand.
